What's in a name

Going to the Sun is the name of the 52 mile long road that crosses the magnificent terrain of Glacier National Park. It has been designated as a National Historic Landmark and is considered one of the top engineering achievements of the 20th century. The road received its name for the spectacular ascent (over 3500 feet), "reaching up to the Sun" from open green valleys at both entrances to the high alpine climate and awe inspiring views of 10,000 foot peaks and glaciers on the continental divide through Logan Pass. We firmly believe that this achievement symbolizes the hard work and achievements of many entrepreneurs as they strive to find their place "in the Sun."

We offer more than 60 years of combined executive level experience and demonstrated success in a wide variety of disciplines and business environments. The firm was founded with the strong belief that the skills and expertise necessary to grow your business profitably can be provided to you effectively, economically and most importantly with a personal, hands-on approach. Who we are

Michael A. Moffitt - Michael is President of Going-to-the-Sun Marketing Associates and brings over 25 years of hands on and successful marketing, sales and executive leadership experience to the table. Prior to forming Going-to-the-Sun Marketing Associates, he served as the Director of Marketing and Sales for Big Mountain Resort in Whitefish, Montana; Director of Marketing and Sales (Public Sector) for Cadillac Products, Inc. a major, multi-plant manufacturer of packaging materials throughout North America; Commanding Officer of a major Department of Defense manufacturing activity, and in other senior management positions in a variety of operations. Michael is a member (and past board member) of the Research and Development Associates, a nationwide consortium of the food industry, the federal government and academia dedicated to advancing food processing, packaging and preservation technology. He is also an active participant in both statewide and regional travel, tourism and recreational initiatives. Michael is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, with a degree in Economics and he received a master's degree in Business Management from Central Michigan University.

Michele Reese - In addition to her responsibilities at Going to the Sun Marketing Associates, Michele is President of Beargrass Marketing, Inc, an innovative marketing firm specializing in the travel, tourism and recreation industry. Michele brings an incredible wealth of experience in effective and creative promotions. She also served as the Chief Operating Officer of the Big Mountain Resort in Whitefish, MT for 6 years and as such worked very closely with Michael in all of their successful and innovative marketing, promotional and sales initiatives. Prior to coming to Montana Michele was the Executive Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Disneyland in California; Senior VP Marketing and Sales for Universal Studios in Hollywood as well as holding other key entertainment industry positions. She currently serves on the board of directors of the Governor's Tourism Advisory Council and was twice named as one of the most powerful women in the travel industry by Travel Agent Magazine. She is a graduate of Brigham Young University with a BA degree in Humanities with subsequent graduate work in Mass Communications at the University of Oklahoma.

David Hennessy - David is an experienced advisor and senior executive with a broad background in marketing, product development, finance and planning. He is a creative strategist who has played major roles in driving growth and improving performance through innovation, product planning, and new product development. David knows what it takes to finance business growth and how to plan for this growth effectively. His efforts have included companies large and small across the globe including automotive, packaging and Fortune 500 firms. His prior positions include Director of Business Development for Cadillac Products, Inc. and VP of Finance for Plastic Packaging at Continental Can Europe. David's strong hands-on financial management experience with businesses of all sizes adds another vital dimension to our service for every client. David holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Notre Dame.
